An Opt-in List Building System

The most important thing you need to consider when you own a website or online business is your list. By this, I mean you need a newsletter that your website visitors can subscribe to by entering their names and email addresses, after which your auto-responder will send out regular messages containing valuable information.

The trick is how to get people to subscribe in the first place so that you can build and work with your list, develop and maintain relationships, and hopefully seal a good deal for your customers over and over again. Creating a good newsletter packed with valuable tidbits of information sometimes just isn’t enough, especially when so many marketers are offering the same information. So what can you do right now to turn people into eager beavers, ready and willing to join your list? Read on…

The first thing you can do is put a price tag on the information you are offering. Prices give you an idea of what your product or service is worth. When you go to a store and see a pair of shoes worth $25 and a pair of shoes worth $125, you get the feeling right away that one is definitely of better quality than the other. You don’t want to make up just any price and deceive your customers, just make sure you are letting your customers know what your information is worth and make it valuable to your audience. What’s valuable to one person may not be what’s valuable to another person, so make sure you know who your audience is, and tailor your price-tag and statement of value to that audience in your own unique way. When you make your newsletter stand out from the rest, then your website visitors will know that by signing up to your newsletter, they will get information that can’t be found elsewhere. Read other people’s newsletters and watch what they do. Pay attention to the things that grab your attention and the newsletters you pass right by without reading. Take what you like and use it, but change it up a little to make it your own unique creation.

You also want to be sure your visitors know the benefits to them of joining your list. If you emphasize what they will gain immediately upon joining, and let them know that you will follow up with regular updates, then they will be more compelled to join. Don’t just promise them an ebook when they join that they can download immediately never to be seen again. Offer a multi-day e-course they won’t want to miss, and inform them of how the information you provide will solve a problem or fulfill a need of theirs.

When you have achieved great success in some avenue of your business, it’s time to share the results with your visitors and let them know how they, too, can achieve the same success. If you tell them you made so many dollars doing this with only a minimal investment, they will get curious and want to know more. Give them a compelling reason to join your list, but don’t tell them everything! Instead, create an irresistible urge that can only be satisfied by subscribing to your list. Set a deadline so that they will join by a specific date or time, creating a sense of urgency, or create a juicy offer or special tip that’s limited to the first ten subscribers. It’s time to be a tease, but be sure not to mislead!

Finally, you can create several opt-in pages that speak only to a select group of people, such as the internet marketing newbie, or the home business owner who also has an offline career. When you find smaller niches, you can advertise in those niches and get targeted subscribers who fall into those categories. Most people just set up their newsletters without finding a specific audience, and this is where you can stand out from the rest and get subscribers to join who know you have something to offer that is tailored to their specific needs.

Advantages of Dropshipping

Dropshipping is a great concept. In brief dropshipping is a process by which a person who does not own products can form a connection with a business supplier who is willing to provide the product for you, including one at a time.

Arrangements with dropshippers vary. Some dropshippers charge a fee for service and add costs on to the product itself. There are some dropshippers who will only charge the wholesale cost of their items with perhaps a minor surcharge to cover their own cost of processing the item.

Dropshipping has been used throughout history. However in the modern day it has become more prolific due to some wholesalers finding that they cannot move their stocks as quickly as they would like to due to competition of other wholesalers. When a small number of wholesalers used dropshipping as a means of promoting their products more naturally entered into the opportunity. However those wholesalers who do not have the same restrictions in moving their stock generally do not worry about dropshipping because it involves extra work and stress.

There are several advantages of dropshipping for someone who operates an online business. These include:

Cheap start up costs.

Having ample supply of products.

Having access to a wide range of products.

Not having to warehouse products.

Saving time on processing sales.

Not having to make an outlay of money on bulk.

Obtaining items at a cheaper cost.

There are nevertheless a number of disadvantages. These include:

Less margin in the profit ratio.

High dependence on the dropshipper.

The dropshipper may not be reliable.

Products are not unique or uncommon.

The greatest advantage of dropshipper for the retailer is that it enables the establishment of the business at low cost. It includes no cost in initial inventory, nor does it include a cost to maintain stock such as some form of warehouse. About the only thing that the retailer has to be concerned for in dropshipping is promotional costs, such as maintaining a website and advertising.

Ebay sellers are typically serviced by a dropshipper. The way the system works with many ebay power sellers is that the seller lists the product on ebay. When a buyer bids and wins the sale of the product the power seller orders the product from the dropshipper who in turn sends the product to the buyers address. The purchase price is typically passed from the buyer to the seller to the dropshipper. Depending on the arrangement the seller may not even have to process the money side of the sale.

Dropshipping is not readily available. It is important to connect up with a wholesaler who is willing to do dropshipping. Nor is dropshipping necessarily easy. Some dropshippers are very difficult to do business with and this unfortunately can do damage to the business of the retailer. It is therefore important to make the right connections.

7 Horrible Hiring Mistakes

Michael Mercer, Ph.d.

You need to hire the best employees.

You undoubtedly hired some employees who were losers.

Oops! Well, let’s be more diplomatic. Let’s just say you hired some “underachievers” you would have been better without.

Or maybe you have the curse of hiring only “average” employees - people who are average in productivity and average in producing profits.

Question: Who wants to hire “average” (or “below average”) employees?

Answer: No one!

To hire the best, you need to avoid the problems that plagued your previous hiring decisions. So, let me reveal seven horrible hiring blunders or mistakes you may have made.

1st Horrible Mistake: = Interviewers typically do a lousy job at predicting job success.

This is a proven fact, verified by a lot of research. Statistically, most interviewers do

about as well as flipping a coin!

2nd Horrible Mistake = Reference checks fail to tell you what you really need to know.

Most employers are so freaked out about giving reference checks that they tell you nothing or barely anything useful about how an applicant performed on-the-job. Another way to put that is most reference checks are about as non-useful as simultaneously (a) flipping a coin while (b) rubbing a rabbit’s foot!!

3rd Horrible Mistake: You relied on your “gut feel” or “intuition” & you were W-R-O-N-G.

Later, as you moaned about the mistake you made by hiring the wrong person, you asked yourself, “I knew what I was feeling. But, what was I thinking?”

4th Horrible Mistake: You used subjective prediction methods to make hiring decisions.

For example, you relied on subjective interviews, subjective reference checks, or subjective “impressions ” of the applicant. Wow! Were you ever off-base. And then you and

your company needed to pay for your incorrect hiring decisions. That is expensive, time-consuming, and frustrating.

5th Horrible Mistake: You used NO objective AND customized prediction method.

Important: Research shows pre-employment tests are the most objective method to make predictions. But, make sure you use a test customized for specific jobs in your company!

If you have not used tests customized for specific jobs in your company, then you really have missed out on the most objective and customized prediction method you could use.

6th Horrible Mistake: You [stupidly] told the applicant what you were looking for!!

Then, lo-&-behold, the applicant spent your entire interview telling you s/he just happens to possess all the skills, talents and qualities you - stupidly - told the applicant you want in an employee. For example, let’s say you - stupidly - told the applicant you need to hire an employee

who excels at teamwork, customer-service, and correctly handling small details. I bet I can predict what that applicant told you in the interview: The applicant told you - with a serious yet pleasant expression - that s/he excels at teamwork, customer-service, and correctly handling small details. And then, when you hired the person who gave you all the answers you - stupidly - told

the applicant you want, you pay the price of having an employee who may not REALLY be

talented at teamwork, customer-service, or handling small details. You got fooled - and you have only yourself to blame.

7th Horrible Mistake: You terribly harm any person you should not have hired.

Let’s be humanistic about it. If you hire the wrong person, the applicant also loses. People crave to work in a job where they will do well and enjoy it. People hate a job where they will perform only average or below average, and not enjoy the work. So, you actually benefit the applicant you carefully evaluated using customized, objective hiring methods.

Summary: When you hire . . .

1. high-achieving “superstar” employees, both you and your company win.

2. underachieving employees, (a) you lose and (b) your company loses.

So, make sure you use customized and objective prediction methods,

like pre-employment tests, biodata and more,

to make sure you hire employees who are

(a) productive, (b) profitable, and© low turnover.

Adsense - Maximising Your Income In The Holidays

Have you noticed around the American bank holidays, like July 4th & Thanksgiving, your Adsense income takes a nosedive? Do you wonder how you can make the most of these holidays and actually maximise your income?

These income nosedives are something I’ve noticed particularly over the past year and each time is happens my heart is in my mouth as my Adsense income plummets and I wonder if it’s ever going to return to more normal levels.

Of course, it does, but just for a day or two you’re wondering just what has happened to your normal income levels.

If you’ve been making money with Adsense for any time at all - you’ll know that your Adsense income can be unpredictable to say the least. From one day to the next you can experience quite big fluctuations for no apparent reason.

You may well have noticed that particular days of the week are far better than others - this will depend on the particular niche that your site is in. For me, my best days are Wednesdays, with Saturdays & Sundays being particularly quiet. For my daughter’s site, she often has better days at the weekends. It will depend very much on your site content and just who your visitors are. My daughter’s site is fashion related, so I guess that a lot of her visitors are teenagers and young women who have more time to browse the internet at the weekend.

Of course, the upside of these Adsense income fluctuations is that the build up to big holidays, such as Christmas, can see some big increases in income. If your site is one where you can cash in on this market, you’ll want to consider preparing for this several months beforehand. Especially so as the Christmas rush starts in early November!

By creating your content pages embedded with your Adsense code in good time you’re giving the search engines plenty of time to find them & index them. You’ve even got time to tweak them if you find that they’re not coming high enough up the search engine results.

As well as building pages, don’t forget that all-important building of links. This is more important for MSN and Yahoo, as Google seems to penalise irrelevant links. However, it’s worth building links to your new pages from related sites, as this will improve your search engine rankings and thus your Adsense income.

It’s especially early to get an early start creating new pages that you want to get ranked in Google as they are now only re-indexing their pages every few months so it is taking longer to get new pages ranked well by them. Making sure you’ve got a Google Sitemap can help to get over this problem. There are plenty of free tools available to help you create your Google Sitemap - just type “free Google sitemap” into the search engines and browse through the available options.

Of course, the great benefit of building your internet businesses with Adsense, is that they’ll keep earning you money whilst you take your holidays, allowing you to take a well-earned rest.

So, instead of dreading the holidays, learn to make the most of them plan for them, and use them to make even more money with Google Adsense!

A Computer And Internet Glossary

A computer is an electronic device that stores, retrieves, and processes data, and can be programmed with instructions. A computer is composed of hardware and software, and can exist in a variety of sizes and configurations.

The Internet is an electronic network of computers that includes nearly every university, government, and research facility in the world. Also included are many commercial sites. It started with four interconnected computers in 1969 and was known as ARPAnet.

A home based business is a business whose primary office is in the owner’s home. The business can be any size or any type as long as the office itself is located in a home.

Put all these three together and you have….some huge potential

When you use computers and the Internet in your business, it’s all too easy to start feeling like you’re drowning in a sea of nonsense. Computer-related things tend to have a language all their own, and while you don’t need to know all of it, there are many confusing words and phrases that you’re going to come across sooner or later. Here’s a quick primer.

Bandwidth. Bandwidth is the amount of data that your website can send each second, as well as the amount of data that the visitor to your website can receive. If either one doesn’t have enough bandwidth, then the website will appear slowly. For this reason, you should choose a host with plenty of bandwidth, as well as testing that your site doesn’t take too long to download on slow connections.

Browser. A browser is the software (see below) that visitors to your site use to view it. The most popular browser is Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, which comes with Windows.

Cookie. Cookies are data files that your site can save on the computer of someone who visits that site, to allow it to remember who they are if they return. You will find that problems people have in ordering from you will almost inevitably be related to cookies — they will need to have them turned on.

Download. Transferring data from a website to a computer.

Favourite. A favourite is a website that a user has stored to look at again, by choosing ‘Add to Favourites’ in their browser’s menu.

FTP. File Transfer Protocol. This is a common method of uploading (see below) files to your website.

Javascript. A common language for writing ’scripts’ on websites, which are small programs that make the site more interactive. Another common cause of problems for visitors.

JPEG. Joint Photographic Experts Group. This is the name of the most popular format for pictures on the web, named after the group that came up with it. If you want to put pictures on your website, you should save them as JPEGs.

Hardware. Hardware is computer equipment that physically exists. It is the opposite of software.

Hosting. If you’ve got a website out there on the Internet, then you’ll be paying someone for hosting. It is the service of making your site available for people to see.

HTML. HyperText Markup Language. A kind of code used to indicate how web pages should be displayed, using a system of small ‘tags’. The ‘b’ tag, for example, causes text to appear in bold, and the ‘img’ tag displays a picture.

Hyperlink. A hyperlink is when a piece of text on a website can be clicked to take you to another site, or another page on the same site. For example, if clicking your email address on your website allows someone to email you, then your email address is a hyperlink.

Programming. This is when the computer is given instructions to tell it what to do, using one of many ‘programming languages’. Programming languages for the web include PHP and Perl.

Server. The server is where your website is stored, and it is the server that people are connecting to when they visit the site. If someone tells you, for example, that your server is ‘down’, it means that your website is inaccessible. Note that server refers both to the hardware and software of this system.

Software. Programs that run on the computer, or that make your website work. Microsoft Word is software, for example, as is Apache (the most popular web server software). Opposite of hardware.

Spider. Don’t be scared if a spider visits your website! Spiders are simply programs used by search engines to scan your site and help them decide where it should appear when people search. It is good to be visited by spiders, as it means you should start appearing in search engines soon.

Upload. Uploading is when you transfer data from your own computer to your website. For example, you might upload your logo, or an article you’ve written. Opposite of download.

URL. Uniform Resource Locator. This is just a short way of saying ‘web address’, meaning what you have to type in to get to your website. Sometimes pronounced as ‘Earl’.

Best Paid Online Surveys - Reviews of Online Best Survey Companies

I have been involved in taking paid online surveys for quite some time now. Hopefully I can shed some light by reviewing online best survey companies.

Finding the best paid survey companies is not as easy as it sounds. There are a lot of scams out there.

It has not always been a home run. At first, I tried to do it all on my own by looking up survey companies one by one. It was free to do it this way, however I never knew which ones were honest companies to deal with. Some were definitely legitimate, but a lot were not so honest.

When you figure you need to give out personal information to the online survey companies, so they can pay you, it gets a little scary. Plus if you are going to spend time taking these surveys, you would like to get compensated with money. This is not always the case when you are not sure who you are dealing with.

Finally I decided to spend the $50 and join a survey membership site. Let these companies do all the leg work on ensuring the honesty of these paid online survey sites. It was the best decision I made.

I no longer wasted hours looking for paid online survey companies. Last I looked on Google, there were more than 17 million paid survey companies listed. That is a ton of sites to filter through.

With the paid membership site, they do all updating on quality sites. These membership sites employ a team of people to filter through the survey sites and make sure that they are legitimate. These companies put together a data base of literally hundreds and hundreds of companies that all pay you or give you prizes to take simple online surveys. There are also extra perks of other ways of making money, such as, mystery shopping, focus groups, using your vehicle to get paid for advertising and so much more.

Survey membership sites list the best paying survey sites at the top of the data base, so you can start earning with the better and more established companies. Also they are continually upgrading the data base to ensure you of each surveys sites credibility.

In my opinion, to get the best paid online surveys than yes you do need to join paid survey membership companies. It only makes sense to let someone else do all the work. My time is worth more than the $50, one time fee, when I am making thousands taking those online best surveys.

4 Steps To Increase Your Affiliate Earnings With PPC

PPC, also known as pay-per-click is probably one of the best, not to mention the fastest, ways to increase your affiliate earnings. The following details some very important information for those new to pay-per-click to get their start.

Veterans of PPC will also find it helpful to keep this list in order to remind themselves of the fundamentals.

1. Do your keyword research

This is a crucial step to successful PPC marketing. In order to draw quality traffic to your website, traffic that will result in sales, you need to know which keyword phrases to bid on. You can sign up for WordTracker, or you can use Googles free keyword tool.

You can expect a higher bid for more competitive keywords. However, as you go through the list you will notice that there some keywords that are not being heavily targeted. Take a look at theses as they may result in a successful niche campaign.

The best advice though when it comes to PPC is to know your audience and your affiliate programs thoroughly. This way you can create pay-per-click ads that target keyword phrases that those in your market would be likely to search with and increase your affiliate earnings.

For example, if you were an affiliate to a website that sold high heels instead of betting on the keyword shoes, you may be more successful bidding on a phrase such as green alligator pumps. In other words, refine your keywords.

2. Do not ignore the advice of others

PPC is one of those games that have ever changing rules. This makes it difficult to become an expert, unless you keep up with those who already have a good grasp of the game. Buy and read how to books, subscribe to newsletters that offer information on the topic, and stay current with the latest pay-per-click trends by seeking the advice of those who already know what theyre doing. Seasoned veterans would also be wise to constantly keep an open mind, in order to gain new knowledge to further increase their affiliate earnings. The worst thing you can do is to pigeonhole yourself to one way of thinking.

3. Test, test, test and test again

This is perhaps the most important step to successful advertising. You need to know what ads are working and which ones are duds. The beauty of PPC is that the internet makes it easy to measure your success. This can be done by creating split A/B ads. Send one group to page A, and the other to page B. The changes could be adding a value proposition or just changing the font of the heading title. Just be sure that you only change one thing per test.

Testing lets you decipher what is working and what it isnt. You may also want to consider joining an ad tracker service that lets you determine which ads are converting into sales and which ones are sucking your revenue.

4. Not all clicks are created equal

Keep in mind that the name of the game here is not traffic. True, more traffic will increase your probability of sales; however, there is no point in creating an ad that draws thousands of visitors if no one buys your product.

Let’s say you send 1,000 visitors to a sponsor or affiliate program. You buy those visitors from a pay-per-click search engine for a .10 each. In U.S. money, that is $100. Now, let’s say you made two sales. What you really paid is $50 per sale. You spent $100 to make 2 sales. So those two sales cost you $50 each. If you made 10 sales from the same traffic, your sales would have cost you $10 each.

You want to spend your time targeting traffic that will result in what I call cash clicks-that is clicks that result in sales otherwise you are wasting your advertising budget.

To avoid losing money on unnecessary clicks, test all your ads, create a few ads in the beginning and measure their success before bidding on more keywords, and create a different campaign for each keyword, do not bunch your ads together. It is also important to keep a close eye on your visitors. Where are they coming from? How long are they staying? Is their visit resulting in a sale? PPC marketers will at some point experience click fraud to minimize this keep a close on your all your ads so this helps you increase your affiliate earnings.
